1. Moisten a kitchen towel with any cooking oil and thoroughly wipe off any manufacturing residues. Continue wiping until no black residue remains
2. Use a soft cloth with dish soap to remove the oil
3. For stubborn residues, use baking soda with a soft sponge
4. Finally, fill the pot with water and vinegar and boil to finish the cleaning process.
Alternatively, you can use citric acid instead of vinegar

I’m one of those people who does a TON of research before buying things. I did so for this purchase especially, since I am an avid tea drinker. I wanted a larger, heirloom quality kettle that can stand some abuse. I considered the almighty Le Creuset enameled steel kettle, but I am not good at remembering to empty my kettle to dry between uses - so enamelware was out (Also the LC kettle had a measly 1.7 liter capacity) I finally settled on this kettle, and guys - it’s wonderful.
VERY generous capacity, seamless steel, excellent pour (no drips!) great heat retention, comfortable handle and knob without being “plasticky.” I’m also surprised by how classic and attractive it is. Somehow it’s simple, minimal, practical, but also has a vintage flair that is very “me”.
Time will tell if it is “heirloom quality”, but since it’s such a seamless design, and stainless steel, I imagine it will hold up nicely.
This is a really nice tea kettle. Some reviewers mentioned the lid falling off, so I tipped it up really far, and no, it didn't fall off. You do have to push the lid in place with a gently but firm nudge. I have an induction stove top, so the very flat bottom of the kettle is perfect. The kettle is an attractive shape, well made, easy to clean, and pours without a drop spilling! Great spout design - above even a large amount of water in the kettle. The handle folds down for easy cleaning and filling, but stays upright when you want it to. And the silicone protects your hands, no pot holder needed. I love it!
This will be an item that consistently performs. The hinges are well engineered and well manufactured. The handle is slim and never hot. There is no whistle which is preferable for me. It’s a hard water magnet so if you notice buildup inside put a dash or two of citric acid and boil water. Rinse and repeat until good as new. The spout is impressive. The pouring volume can be fine tuned by the user at ease from a slim stream with no beading to a constant pour with no chugging. Definitely buy.
I am extremely pleased with this tea pot and have looked for a replacement for years. The stainless steel is higher quality than most kitchen equipment (18/10--more nickel). This is reflected in the higher price but worth it to me. The handle moves to the side for ease of filling the pot with water; most others is stationary which makes it cumbersome to fill. There is a small hole in the top to allow venting of steam thereby avoiding the hot kettle water boiling over even with the top on. Finally, the stainless is brushed which does not show spots on the exterior, a famous problem with stainless steel. Oh the size is perfect too for boiling hot water when making stews and soups.
Fantastic Kettle! I am a total water kettle snob. I have only used German Glass Kettles for the past 10 years. The Large capacity of this kettle, the fact it is non reactive steel, and I moved to a gas stove was the reason I gave this one a try after hours of research. The three adults in this household LOVE IT and we have to refill it a heck of a lot less. Water enough left after large coffee french press filled in the morning for the second person to rise to get a few cups of tea in. There is a silicon grip on the steel handle that stops you from burning your hand if you leave the kettle on the stove too long. Absolutely would recommend to anyone.
